Week In The Life Saturday Photos

Despite being so tired on Friday evening and going to bed early, I didn't feel awesome on saturday morning. I knew I would be out all day so was trying to use a fuddled brain to pack everything that was needed. One piece of documentation I forgot to pack would be needed later...*sigh*

I felt a bit scattered trying to get my thoughts together and the drive in through the valley was just the thing. Beautiful trees with their new leaves and the sun shining through them. Past the bluebell wood, the beautiful shining river. I listened to my audio book, chuckling, such great writing about such a familiar cast of characters.
I love Louise Penny's Chief Inspector Gamache novels.

At work I was so happy to have a day pottering about the shop. Fixing details, moving trade areas about, collaborating with the team to get their ideas on what we could do differently and getting some great ideas. Serving customers (also in a great mood with the weather)
I love Saturdays at work, although I would much rather be home at the weekend with the children, it is generally a good day at work. I have not prepped any lunch and I am cross that I didn't bring the rest of my chicken, potato salad and corn on the cob. I resort to the dreaded sandwich, crisps and chocolate.

After work Danni (my deputy manager) and I got a lift from Ricky (one of my team leaders) over to Bideford to start the Nightwalk, a charity fundraising walk for our local hospice. It was 11 miles through the evening and into the late night. Neither of us had done it before so we didn't know what to expect. We were really impressed with the organisation and everyone was very friendly.
The theme was Let Yourself Glow and we all dressed up, Danni did a great job of getting us tutus and neon face paint. Clearly we need to up our game for next year as there were women lit up from head to toe with fairy lights, glowing clothes, flashing headgear

I finally got home about 00:30 and fell exhausted into bed

I love trying something new.
I love long walks.
I love leg warmers. I am bringing them back for the over forties

A very good Saturday

Week In The Life Friday Photos

A slow day for photos, It was a full-on work day and then more or less straight to bed day after my late shift on Thursday.

I drink a mocha this morning while getting ready for work.
I love them, but they are so sugary and I am trying to cut sugar so I try not to have too many. Some weeks I utterly fail at this.

I talk to Louis before school and he brings out a report from his ICT GCSE. With one module left to do he is at 75%. As long as he does well on the last one he should get at least a C Grade.
I love that he feels proud.

I feel both tired and excited for work. There is so much I want to achieve today. Everyone else is in a great mood. We have some delivery issues which are a major irritant for our customers so we get that dealt with, I make pay adjustments, run payroll, check my forecasting and adjust budgets for the remainder of the quarter accordingly and then spend the rest of the day briefing the team. It's a values based session and I wanted to take the opportunity to thank them, celebrate success and tell them how proud I am of them.
I love how that felt.

I drag home, I neglected to eat anything except a few grapes although I did drink a couple of litres of water. I am so hungry when I get home that I have a few crackers and butter whilst dinner is cooking. I have chicken, potato salad and corn on the cobs. It was delicious. Mum and I wandered around the garden amazed all over again at how it grows at this time of year. I must get some detail photos on Sunday when I'm home.

Bedtime at 8:30pm.
I love how comfortable that felt.

It was a great Friday

Week In The Life Thursday Photos

I love that I am not sweating about photos and stories, I just seem to be getting it done. 4 days done, 3 days to go.

I was bone tired this morning from all the excitement and busy-ness of yesterday. I would have dearly liked to stay in bed

7-8am
I walked Minty, it was still drizzly and one of the neighbours wasn't paying attention to his dog and she pinned Minty down as we went past. It gave us quite a moment. She was ok though. I felt in a bit of a daze.

8-10am
I blogged my wednesday while having my breakfast. A big breakfast today as I am trying to eat regularly and on my late shift I am awful. So I made myself poached egg on toast. That should see me through until dinner at work with some fruit at lunchtime.
I then did a few chores and Mum and I despaired about how the house is topsy-turvy again and will be for a while during the decorating and bathroom fitting etc.
I love that we have the opportunity to be topsy-turvy and fix the expletive leak.

The hall now has the decorating stuff and the new rad for the bathroom in it.
I went into the boys room to see how devastated that was and that led me to send a group message to the family with instructions for how tidy it was to be when I got home from work. Please avert your eyes now...

I love our new hashtag for messages #familymatters it covers a few meanings
It got a bit of banter going between us all while I was at work this evening so that was good.

11-1:30
I rested for half an hour and then showered and sat quietly watching some more Peaky Blinders and had a coffee whilst I got ready for work. My new fringe has gone into a bit of a cow-lick which it hasn't done since I was a kid I don't think *sigh* I just go with it

1:30-00:00
Commute to and from work and obviously work. I do not stop although a good 5 hours is catching up and planning so at least that was sit down work.
00:00 -01:00
Technically Friday but still my thursday, I can't switch off so I make my homemade pizza and have a Thatchers Gold with a candle burning and write this post.
I love finishing for the day.

A good Thursday

Week In The Life Wednesday Photos

6am-7am
An very wet walk with Minty.
I love early mornings, even when they are wet.

A bedraggled Minty

7am-8am
Out to check on our plants and open the 'greenhouse' cover. All looking good. This is my first year growing things myself rather than just admiring Mum's green fingers and...
I love growing things.

8am-9am
Mum trying to take Fudge for a walk while I surf the net and wave goodbye to the boys. They both make their own way to school today.

9am-12pm
DIY getting the tongue and groove battening on, wondering how I am going to solve the problem of going past the fitted cupboard I made last week. Mum solves it. She paints some more, the mirror this time. It's final coat.
I drink my breakfast smoothie. All time favourite, I have it most days. *Banana, 1/4 cup Flahavans oats, Whole peanut or almond butter, almond or coconut milk. (sometimes coffee powder or cocoa powder in)*
I love my smoothie.
I love my new Bosch Multi-tool. I certainly couldn't have done this project without it.

12pm-3pm
The Sparky turns up unexpectedly but most welcomed as we need the bathroom lights sorted before the Plumber comes at the end of the month to fit the new bathroom.
It means I cannot get on with the porch as they are coming and going so I stop for lunch and then blog my first two days of week in the life. I try to watch Peaky Blinders but i'm too absorbed in blogging (miss it very much) and so I listen to Vaughn Williams' The Lark Ascending.
I love this piece of music, it always chills me out. (I noticed I was listening to it last week in the life too, so clearly a favourite)

3pm-8pm
Mum comes home from the hospital from having her eyes checked. She goes every six months. Good news is she can go back to the daily dose eye drops. The other type were feeling gritty.
We have a coffee and admire the new lights and think a bit about the bathroom and then the tracker says that the bathroom is nearly here. So excited. The delivery men are great.
I love our new bathroom and it is all in order except we are not sure about the shower head, it's a tad lame. We will consider this as the budget starts to blow. It will certainly be fine for now.

We go back to the diy and manage to do all the tricky work. Another half an hour might have got it finished, but I feel shaky from all the ladder+power tool work and better to stop than have an accident. Oh there might have been some swearing too
I love finishing for the day.
9-10pm
I had a shower and watched half an episode of Peaky Blinders while I wrote up my notes for the day for when I scrap week in the life and then fell into bed exhausted. Listened to a freakonomics podcast episode on grit and how to improve it. I might need it with all the kids exams, the bathroom and work  I only heard a bit of it though and then fast asleep (looking every one of my years )

A very good Wednesday
