Storytelling Sunday–Midsummer

I'm joining in with Storytelling Sunday, will you? It's just such a lovely event to join in with.
It was such a perfect summer’s day on midsummer 2010. I had a meeting near London and the 7 hours round trip in a car with no air conditioning had left me all stuffy. Even though it was a school night, I grabbed the kids and Mum when I got home and we tore down to Coombesgate beach for an hour.

This photo doesn’t reflect it but the beach was quite busy with lots of families doing the same, just enjoying the balmy evening and watching the sunset on midsummer.

The light was perfect and the boys couldn’t resist getting in the pools….

or running and jumping.

It was just lovely and peaceful and warm.

I thought of this story as I scrapped this photo yesterday for a challenge for America’s National Scrapbooking Day. That was a nice way to spend an hour or two. I am already beginning to hope that it will be similar this midsummer.
So I am adding it to another tradition that is Storytelling Sunday, hosted by Sian at From High In The Sky.

  1. "Balmy" sounds like the perfect word! I think I won't be the only one who is trying to picture myself right there enjoying it too..

Jen, I have just discovered that your link was leading back to my blog rather than yours, so I have fixed it for you and I hope you haven't missed out on any visitors :)

  23. I started to question what I get from blogging, as it eats into so much of my time and takes me away from other things I should/could be doing. I took a break for a while to concentrate on some of these other things but I am quickly reminded why I blog. Because I love connections and finding out other people share experiences and the things I love. So thank you Jennie, I can justify why my house looks a mess, there are several piles of paperwork waiting to be filed, and why I have 18 months of photos sitting on my computer waiting to be organised.
We usually visit Devon at Easter so have already been this year, but now we have a campervan who know's where it will take us? Before we had children we used to camp at Croyde Bay but I imagine the site is now very different. I love that coast and know it quite well. Yes!! I loved to meet up next time I am down that way.
